Swim teams dominate in season opener

Swimming in Gambier, Ohio, in the pool of their arch-rival Kenyon College, the Denison swim teams were not fazed by the hostile environment. In fact, the Big Red men's and women's swim teams thoroughly dominated their nemesis as they both captured first-place titles at the NCAC Relays on Saturday.

Speed. Smarts. Style. Peter Shorten combines all of these elements out on the soccer field. As one of this year's team captains, the men's soccer senior midfielder has been one of the main reasons for the Big Red's success. Aside from his 10 total points so far this season, Shorten has stepped up as an offensive as well as team leader.

With the winter sports season fast approaching, we've put together some flash cards to catch you up on all of the happening on the athletics fields of the Big Red this fall season.

MEN'S SOCCER Record: 9-4 Overall, 5-1 NCAC (2nd) Stat Leaders: Sr. Peter Shorten (5 Goals, 2 Assists), Sr. Tucker Mauke (5 Goals, 2 Assists) Saturday's 4-2 win over Wittenberg put the Big Red alone in second place in the NCAC with a 5-1 record. Their 9-4 overall mark is their best record since 2007, when they finished the regular season at 10-6.
