Next week, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA) will evaluate the quality of the institution. The evaluations take place every 10 years. Denison was last reviewed in 1999, and this year the process beings again.
In the weeks preceding our vacation marked by our overeating of turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, the Denison Community Association (DCA) brings to our attention the issue of Homelessness and Hunger. A group of students have chosen to give up their dorm rooms and, for some, their meal plans, to spend this week sleeping in cardboard boxes outside of Slayter, bringing awareness to this issue.
Anyone who is familiar with Denison's campus knows that there are a multitude of student leaders here who are enthusiastic about bettering the organization(s) they lead, but did you know there are actually students who get excited about the idea of bettering just the simple idea of leadership itself on campus? In recognition of this passion for leadership, the Student Activities Office (SAO) has created a Leadership Fellows Program.
Emily Julian, senior Strongsville, Ohio "I am excited that this fellowship allows me to make an impact on the leadership programs at Denison as well as invent new opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills." Shavely Peralta, junior Methuen, Mass.
Who knew pieing someone in the face could give someone else shelter? This week, Denison students can make a different with housing by donating for student leaders to be pied in the face. Denison's Habitat for Humanity chapter is hosting their third annual Pie-A-President event on Thurs.
