Fashion Week has just come to a close in New York City, and so has the second week of classes. One of the many exciting things about Fashion Week is observing the street style of ordinary New Yorkers who contribute to the reason New York is considered to be the Fashion Capitol of America.
Denison is no fashion capitol, but the first couple weeks are definitely something to look forward to.
For weeks, brand-new purchases have been waiting in closets to finally be debuted on A-quad for the first time!
Okay, well maybe it's not as dramatic for you, but for some of us, it's exciting.
The start of school means the end of summer and the beginning of fall - and that calls for a drastic wardrobe change.
Trust me, it's hard for me to let go of the tank tops too, but hopefully I can ease your withdrawal symptoms with some key staples for Fall.
High-waisted Trousers/ Skirts- High-waisted is always nice because who doesn't love longer-looking legs. But the key here is trousers. Trousers are a great staple to have in the closet because they have a relaxed slouchy fit (comfortable), are tapered at the ankle, and are cropped just enough to show off a fabulous pair of shoes.
Venessa Bruno, fashion editor for the financial times, said she believes, "Fall is about power dressing and in-your-face luxe. Slick trousers, flared or skinny, make legs look miles long and stride well into the boardroom."
For those who don't like high-waisted pantalones, try a high-waisted skirt.
Hair Bows- I became a sucker for hair accessories, especially headbands, the minute I laid my eyes on Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf.
Going to class became that much more fun!
Just kidding.
But on a more serious note, hair accessories add some serious spice to an outfit.
This fall, bows are it. It can be on a headband, on a clip, or even on a ponytail. My advice: Super-size it.
Blazers- When you think college fashion, you think blazers… at least stereotypically. Blazers have been a hit this past year, which means an unbelievable selection in stores. Instead of going with a trench or a cardigan, throw on a blazer.
