The DCGA may have not had a meeting during fall break, but this didn't stop our student government from working around the clock to plan events and talk with school staff to make the lives of students more convenient.

The meeting before fall break, the DCGA continued their talks of renovating the Slayter Pit into a more student friendly environment. The Open Forum on the renovation allowed ideas such as improving lighting on Slayter fourth floor, or turning Mulberry into a student studio. The matter is still being discussed in the DCGA, so none of these possible improvements have been made into definite plans.

Last week was filled with events such as Spirit Week and Student Gala started. There was an event everyday, planned by projects committee, which allowed Denison students to celebrate their spirit as a whole.

Thursday was the school's annual pep rally. It was an event where the school not only showcases its teams, but allows them to compete against each other in events such as the three legged race. While attendance was lacking, the students who came were filled with energy.

"I enjoyed the event that the DCGA put on for the pep rally. Though, I feel it would've been more effective if more students came out. I also feel that we as a student body cannot complain about the lack of school spirit if we don't even come out to events like the pep rally," said Aminata Kaba, a freshman biology major.

Finally, the week came to a close on Saturday with the long awaited Student Gala. Students saw Slayter in a whole new light as the homecoming committee decorated it for this year's theme: Going Green. The first floor housed finger foods and a jazz band, the second floor was a relaxation spot and the third floor was the location for dancing.

"I highly enjoyed it because unlike a lot of other dances, it was a very inclusive experience where we were all dancing as one. Although we were with our group of friends, you could feel us dancing as a cohesive unit. Not to mention the throwbacks to my 6th grade top 40 playlists" said Cullen Marshall, a freshman undeclared major.

Overall, DCGA and its projects committee pleased a lot of students with this week, even if the turnout wasn't as great as it could have been.

"Spirit week went alright, I heard there were some good events, but I didn't get a chance to attend them. The gala was definitely the highlight of the week, with the bomb food and the sick music. This gala and spirit week was way better, but this year I actually paid attention to spirit week" said Kumar Caughey, a junior economics major.
