Brisson won a decisive majority of votes, while Hills managed a narrow victory.
"It's nice that the campus made a solid choice," Brisson said of the election results.
Both candidates campaigned on a platform of improved unity, transparency and efficiency within DCGA, as well as increased student involvement with dining services, gender-neutral housing and expediting the process of renovating dorms.
Brisson attributed his victory largely to high levels of Greek support, his connections with freshmen as an R.A. in East Hall and his efforts to connect with voters all over campus.
Students seemed to appreciate and reward his efforts.
"He seemed like he was knowledgeable and had an interest in what other people had to say," said Jeff Maier, an undecided freshman.
Hills also benefited greatly from being an R.A.
"Out of all the candidates, I probably had the strongest connection to first-years, given that I am an R.A. and live on West Quad," he said.
Both sounded remarkably upbeat when discussing the issues they would attempt to engage in the new administration. Brisson said he envisioned a much more aggressive and responsive government, arguing that a government with a clear mandate from students will have more clout in dealing with various other campus authorities.
Hills said he agreed.
"As a representative of the student body, I want to find out what students want," he said.
Both candidates emphasized minority involvement as crucial to achieving their goals. Brisson ruefully noted that diversity is an issue that only minorities talk about, and proposes expanding the campus discourse to include it.
"Academically, we need to prepare students for a diverse society," he argued.
The class Senate and Co-Governor elections will be held next week. As of press time, there was no official record on which candidates were running in the elections.

My congratulations to Eric "Harry" Brisson and Kale Hills. I think they will do their best as president and vice president of the DCGA.
